How much does Alber e-motion battery regeneration cost, and is it worth it?

Why a service quote can be such a shock

For many people, e-motion wheels aren't a gadget. They're everyday independence: getting to work, doing the shopping, going to the doctor, walking the dog. When the battery starts to fade and you're told you need to replace whole modules or buy a new set for thousands of euros, it's easy to feel trapped. The equipment your mobility depends on suddenly becomes a financial problem.

Yet in most cases the motors, hubs, housing and control electronics are working perfectly. Only the cells inside the battery have worn out. And those can be replaced, without paying for everything that still works.

Alber e-motion battery regeneration prices

The price depends on the model (cell type) and the capacity you choose. The batteries for the M15 and M25 are identical, and so are the batteries for the M11, M12 and M13.

Even the most expensive Li-ion option costs a fraction of a new set. You pay for the cells and the workshop's labour, not for motors and housings that can keep going for years.

What does the regeneration price include?

• Free diagnostics: we measure the resting voltage, the internal resistance of the cells and the condition of the BMS, micro-switches and charging sockets.
• A new cell pack: brand-new, branded cells (Li-ion 18650 or NiMH, depending on the model), spot-welded with pure nickel strip.
• Integration with the original electronics: we connect the new pack to your Alber BMS; the housing and sockets stay original.
• Load testing: a full charge and controlled discharge cycle; we check capacity, voltage stability and temperature.
• Safe return shipping: we pack the battery in line with the regulations for lithium batteries (UN3480, UN3481).
• A 12-month written warranty on the regenerated battery.

When regeneration makes sense, and when it doesn't

Regeneration pays off most when the cells are the problem: shorter range, cutting out on slopes despite a charged battery, voltage errors, or a battery the charger no longer wants to charge. Regeneration won't help if the motor or the control electronics are damaged. That's why we always start with diagnostics. If we find a fault like that, we'll contact you and explain your options before we do anything. If regeneration turns out to be impossible or not worthwhile, you don't pay for it.

• Axis is an independent service. We are not affiliated with Alber GmbH or Invacare, we are not an authorised manufacturer service centre and we are not endorsed by the manufacturer. “Alber” and “e-motion” are trademarks of their respective owners.
• A regenerated battery is not a new Alber product. It isn't covered by the manufacturer's warranty; our 12-month warranty applies instead.
• If your wheels are still under the manufacturer's warranty, use that first.
• If your wheelchair or wheels are rented or funded by an organisation, check with them first whether battery regeneration is allowed.
